Jacqueline Kennedy Essay -- Biography

Jacqueline Kennedy is probably best known for her style, love of art and history, and family values. She never looked to be First Lady but took on the role she needed to. Sometimes people seemed more interested in her than the president himself. Jackie was more appealing than previous First Ladies. She was original and dignified. She helped increase the popularity of her husband. She did what was called from her while still maintaining who she was. She was an inspiration to women everywhere. She will always be remembered for being a powerful woman. She knew she wasn`t the classic First Lady material. â€Å"The trouble with me is that I`m an outsider. And that`s a very hard thing to be in American life† (Perry 53). She knew who she was and she went with it. She didn`t try and change for what people wanted her to be. Many people try to change to the image people want them to be but she didn`t Family was the most important thing to Jackie. â€Å"If you bungle raising your children, I don’t think whatever else you do well matters very much† (Karen 37). She set a standard for mothers everywhere. â€Å"I’ll be a wife and mother first, then First Lady† (Klein 98). All that mattered to her was to be a family. She understood, no matter how important a position, family came first and always would. â€Å"The children have been a wonderful gift to me, and I’m thankful to have once again seen our world through their eyes. They restore my faith in the family’s future† (Anderson, 176). Her children were her world; everything she did was for them. She tried her best to be the perfect mother. She also valued her marriage. â€Å"Jacqueline wore a choker of pearls and a diamond bracelet that was a gift from the groom† (Bowles 63). She kept it simple and with great mea... ...ld have been very hard to tell her what to do. When someone is that comfortable with whom they are you cannot help but admire them. They are who they are and no one will ever be able to change that. They are above the trivial ways of trying to fit in to get people to like them. She had all she wanted, her family and the rest didn’t matter. No one would ever be able to shape her into what they want. She wasn’t out spoken but she didn’t let people use her. Isn’t that what makes heroism? She was someone who would never do something just because society told her. Isn’t that which make progress possible too? There are few ways progress can only be made by those who are willing to be different and not conform to society. Maybe that is what everyone liked about her, how she couldn’t be manipulated. She was always aware what was going on but it never caused her to change.

I can also offer to some of the videos that have been used on the US 1010 Canvas course.Start making study schedules. I need to start doing my homework when it is handed out and fresh in my mind. I need to do homework when it is first available for me to do it. I can also make calendars and plan out my weeks. 2. I will also struggle to keep up with the rest of the class. I am a slow learner, and I am worried I will fall behind. I can use the resour ces my professor gives me, like Supplemental groups and use the opportunity to study with my peers. I need to start going to Supplemental Instruction Courses and make time to learn more when I am not aught up.I need to make sure I put in extra time to study and stay caught up. Did you use your annotation and notes while taking the quiz? If so, would you have done as well if this was a closed-note quiz? I did use my notes and annotation, but I think I would have probably done Just as well as I did without them. What did you learn while doing this assignment? It is important to do well on note-taking and annotating. Even if you are not able to use those on a test or quiz, you retain more information by writing it down and going through the material repeatedly afterwards.

By the mid-19th century, mass production industries have been developed mainly in the North, which led them to control a majority of the factories. In 1860, most of the southerners worked in agriculture. The cotton industry was also booming in the southern region. The differences between the two were enough to separate each other into two sides. The issue with slavery is what set the stage for conflict between the North and South. The industrial technologies transformed from peacetime to war. The war started in April of 1861. The first battle took place at the Fort Sumter, and the south ultimately won the fight. However, three days after the Confederate attack, President Lincoln called upon the right states to supply more than 70,000 soldiers to suppress the rebellion. (466) In the same month the state of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Arkansas joined the Confederacy. West Virginia decided to split apart from Virginia to stay with the Union. In America: The Essential Learning Edition, David Shi and George Tindall state the main reason the North gain victory in the following quotation: The Union produced 97 percent of the firearms and 96 percent of the railroad equipment. (468) Using these resources, it gave the North an advantage in weaponry and in transportation, which led them to win the Battle of Rich Mountain. The Bull Run took place in Manassas of July 1861 and ended up giving victory to the South. This victory is where the nickname Stonewall was given to T homas Jackson. Jackson was a commander of a Confederate brigade at Bull Run, he then later died due to friendly fire. By this time, the North realized that this war was going to be serious business. Continuing from September, President Lincon issues the Emancipation Proclamation. Increasingly, President Lincoln came to see that winning the war required ending slavery. He justified the Emancipation Proclamation of 1862 as a military necessity because it would deprive the South of its captive labor force. Although the Emancipation Proclamation proclaimed the intention of eliminating slavery, it saved only those in regions still under Confederate command. The Union government proved much more capable with finances than did the Confederates. Through a series of tariffs, income taxes, bond issues, and banking reforms, the Union was able to absorb wars souring costs. The Unions victories at the Battles of Vicksburg and Gettysburg in July 1863 were a significant turning point of the war. The methods of the war were defined. The Southerners were primarily optimistic once the war began. The Confederates had a geographic advantage and were fighting a defensive battle on their territory. Confederate diplomacy conjointly anticipated tremendous support from Britain and France, support that never materialized The Union, however, held strong advantages regarding population and industrial development. The Union began a campaign to take the Confederate capital in, Richmond, Virginia in wishes for a fast victory.
